Easter Treats

My niece asked me to make her an Easter basket because her mom told her the Easter Bunny only brings you what you can fit in your basket!  I made this with that in mind ...

A bunny face on the bottom.

A bunny surprise on the inside.

I bought a pattern at Sew Expo called the Billie Jean skirt.  It was pretty easy, and I made a matching headband with the leftover fabric.

My niece sewing!

My 6 year old niece came for a visit, and my sewing teacher (the Head Diva) taught her to make a headband.  Her first ever sewing machine project!

Learning the basics.

 Practicing her excercises.

Can't forget to trim your threads!

Made this Zippy Strippy bag from a kit I bought at The Quilting Loft.

Also made an infinity scarf from leftover from the fabric I used on my mom's wrap.

Loads of Fun at Sew Expo!

Check out all the goodies I bought!
Fabric from Vogue Fabrics.
Patterns for lunch bags, a long ruffle skirt and a jacket.
Tons of ribbons, buttons and wooden spools from Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods.
An oval metal container with antique Singer graphics.
An iron on butterfly applique using colored metal studs.
A lint remover for the dog hair from Truffles, a Chow, at the Sewing Lounge.
A surgical seam ripper.
Some solid hand moisturizer in Lemon Verbena.

All in all it was a lot of fun.  I had a few classes that were a lot of fun.  Two different serger classes, a presser foot presentation, a demo on interfacings and linings and a presentation on waistline finishes.

The serger classes were sponsored by Babylock.  They provided 32 machines for participants to learn on.  The instructor was Candice Jewitt.

My favorite vendor booth has to be Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods.  Check out just a few photos of the booth.

So many fabric vendors,

But there were also sewing machines on display.

Some yarn at the knitting booths.

As well as my sewing teacher, the Head Diva!

Can't wait to go again next year!!

Sew Expo bound!

This will be my first trip to Sew Expo in Puyallup!  I am attending a bunch of classes on Thursday and Saturday, but I left Friday open for browsing (buying) and perusing (shopping) all the different booths.

The Head Diva will be there debuting some new patterns.

I plan on taking lots of pictures, so look for those coming up.

Sneak Peek ...

I made this for my mom's birthday.  It's from a new pattern designed by the Head Diva at Paradiso Designs, but it's not out yet so I can't show you the whole thing!

One Step Closer to Diva Status!

Holy crap, I actually gave a fabric cutting instruction to another person!  It was just a piece for a headband, but still ... pretty cool.

Wow, that's pleather?

This is the Okashi Bag by Paradiso Designs.  This pleather is really soft.
 I love the sequin look.
Four pockets to hold all my stuff.

Go Haaawwwks!!

My husband wanted his jersey shortened, and I think I did a pretty good job!  Notice the official NFL label that I removed and replaced.  When I sent him this picture he thought it was the "before" shot.

Notions Bag

This is the bag I use to carry my sewing tools, accessories, notions ... well, you get it!  The lining fabric is "Andalucia" by Patty Young for Michael Miller.  Can't find my selvedge edge to the polka dots, but the top outter fabric is "Trefle" by Kokka.

Be Green Market Bag

I made this bag using Paradiso Designs "Be Green Market Bag" pattern.  The fabrics are from the "Hab-i-tat (a philosphy ... a refuge ...)" collection by Michele D'Amore.

Sometimes you just gotta push through it.

I've learned, the hard way, that you sometimes have to help your machine along.
